Highlander (1986)
"Highlander" (1986) offers a captivating sci-fi narrative featuring a series of immortal beings who must engage in combat throughout time. The only way they can die is through decapitation by sword, reinforcing the mantra, "there can be only one."
The film pivots around an immortal Scottish swordsman who is forced to confront the last of his immortal opponents: a barbaric brute who is desperately seeking the legendary "Prize".
The soundtrack is exceptional, largely thanks to the legendary rock band, Queen. Originally, they were only slated to contribute one song for a specific scene. However, after viewing the rough cut of the film, they were so impressed that they decided to score the entire movie. "Who Wants to Live Forever," a standout track, was written by Brian May during the ride back to their hotel after the viewing.
Some might dismiss this movie, but if you can't appreciate a film about an immortal Sean Connery, engaging in sword fights throughout the ages, to a soundtrack by Queen, the issue lies with you, not with "Highlander".
Finally, a word of advice: avoid ""Highlander" 2" at all costs. In fact, let's agree to never mention it again.
Yup. It's very disappointing that they never produced a sequel. Can't imagine what they were thinking.
