Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Rating: 7/10
Runtime 121 minutes

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is a sci-fi comedy with a wicked music track featuring hits from the '60s and '70s.

It also has some great charisma from the cast.

The team-up of an ensemble cast, a diverse and often random assortment of characters coming together to achieve a common goal or mission, has been done many times before in "The Magnificent Seven," "Ocean's Eleven," and "The Italian Job."

However, it's never been done by a walking tree named Groot, a potty-mouthed raccoon with a gun fetish, and a couple of green aliens.

Honestly, the plot and villain are kind of standard MCU fare, but what's special is the way the characters are all uniquely interesting, and even more interesting together, interacting off each other.

Plus, did I mention the kick-ass music? The songs were carefully curated and played on set to help "the actors and the camera operators find the perfect groove for the shot."

"I am Groot."

You should not watch Guardians of the Galaxy if... Whats the deal with...
Warning: The following may contain spoilers:

What's the deal with "Guardians of the Galaxy"? I mean, you have a tree who only knows three words, and he's arguably the most eloquent character in the whole film! And a raccoon with a machine gun... the last time I saw a raccoon in my trash, all he was armed with was a bad attitude and a leftover pizza slice. And the main character, Peter Quill, he's a human zipping around outer space listening to 70's hits like he's on a cosmic road trip. Forget Uber, where do I sign up for that intergalactic taxi service? And seriously, how is that Walkman's battery still going after all these years? I can’t even keep my phone charged for a day.
