Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
You will get the most out of it if you read the book first."Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (2001) is a film about an orphaned boy who enrolls in a school of wizardry. Here, he learns the truth about himself, his family, and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world he is now a part of.
I've noticed that people who aren't impressed with the series or dismiss it as childish probably have only seen the films directed by Chris Columbus. I don't mean to insult his work though, as Columbus did an outstanding job in capturing the whimsical essence of the story and vividly bringing the magical world to life. Sorcerer's Stone, particularly, is exactly what it was meant to be and nothing more.
One thing that Columbus did flawlessly was bringing together a cast that, despite the child actors being a bit unpolished in the first few films, would grow to fully embody their roles, thereby ensuring the enduring popularity of the films. Not to forget, Columbus' decision to bring in John Williams was a masterstroke. Williams' iconic score served as the emotional backbone for the first three films, and I doubt the series would have had the same impact without his remarkable contribution.

What's the deal with Quidditch in Harry Potter? I mean, you've got seven players on each team, flying around on brooms, playing their hearts out. There's bludgers flying, keepers keeping, chasers chasing. And then what? None of it matters because Harry catches the Golden Snitch and game over. That's it. Thanks for playing, everybody else!
You've got to wonder about the rest of the team. "Hey, I've been training all year, perfecting my moves, and you're telling me the whole game just comes down to Harry and a tiny, winged ball? Why am I even here?"
And the scoring system – 150 points for the Snitch? Who came up with that? It's like playing basketball where every shot is worth a point, but if you find a hidden marble on the court, you win the whole game. "Oh, you've been scoring all day, making strategic plays? Cute. I just found this little ball, so I guess none of that matters now."
And imagine being a spectator. You're watching, trying to follow the action, and suddenly the game's over because Harry Potter pulled a fast one with the Snitch. "I blinked. What happened?" "Oh, the game's over. Harry caught the Snitch. We can all go home now."
